MEET ERIC

Born in Menomonie and raised in Western Wisconsin as the youngest of six children, Eric understands the values of hard work, family, and community that define our district. His deep roots, spanning five generations dating back to the 1850s, have fostered a genuine connection to the needs and aspirations of our community. Wilson comes from a big family of teachers, coaches, small business owners, and manufacturing workers.

Eric is committed to fighting for the issues that matter most to our community. He will advocate for affordable housing, accessible health care, quality education, economic growth, sustainable farming practices, and policies that uplift and empower all residents.

His father, Lon Wilson, was a longtime high school chemistry teacher and basketball coach who was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2009, and his mother works in health care and previously has served on the school board. He lives in Eau Claire with his three Goldendoodles, Winston, Freja, and Blu.

He was raised with a deep appreciation for the importance of education and accessible health care. These values continue to shape his commitment to improving the lives of others and driving positive change.

Like so many Wisconsin families, the Wilson family has faced their own health care battles. Eric is helping his father manage stage four prostate cancer and previously cared for his aunt and grandfather who passed away from breast and prostate cancer in 2015.

Eric himself, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, has dealt with years of health care issues between his migraines and chest issues. Growing up, he had a concave chest and couldn’t breathe properly, especially when he was playing sports. During his sophomore year of college, he finally had the chest reconstructive surgery he needed to live a normal life. And, like so many people, he came out of the surgery in serious medical debt.

Eric brings his experience as the chair of the Technology and Communications committees with the Eau Claire County Democrats and his professional experience in health insurance and real estate to represent the people of Wisconsin’s Third District in the United States Congress.

Wilson is openly gay and if elected, would join Senator Tammy Baldwin and Congressman Mark Pocan as proud openly LGBTQ legislators from Wisconsin. Born in 1993, he’d also be Wisconsin’s youngest member of Congress.
